1997 Gozzard 31

The Gozzard 31 is a fiberglass sailing yacht built in 1997, measuring 36 feet overall with a traditional cruising design that balances comfort with capable seaworthiness. The boat carries 782 square feet of sail area, rigged with a North Sails fully-battened mainsail with two reef points, a 130% genoa on a Schaefer 1100 furling system, and a staysail on a Schaefer 750 furler. A Westerbeke 38B diesel engine with direct shaft drive provides auxiliary power. Recent upgrades include new standing rigging fitted in 2018, updated running rigging through 2026, and new Spinlock cabintop rope clutches installed in 2025.

Below decks, the layout offers comfortable cruising accommodations with warm wood joinery and substantial storage throughout. The galley includes a Force 10 two-burner propane stove, Nova Kool 12V refrigerator/freezer, Panasonic microwave, custom dish locker, and a five-gallon hot water heater. Fresh water capacity is 80 gallons, fuel 38 gallons, and holding tank capacity 38 gallons. Navigation systems comprise a Raymarine ST4000 autopilot, Raymarine i60 wind display, Autohelm Tridata, Standard Horizon CP300i GPS plotter, and a Ritchie binnacle compass.

The boat's systems are well-maintained and current. Electrical power comes from a 120-amp alternator, 400-watt solar panel with Victron MPPT controller, and a Freedom 10 1000-watt inverter with 50-amp charger. Battery banks consist of a Group 24 AGM starting battery and two Group 31 AGM house batteries, all installed in 2018. A Link 2000 battery monitor and Lewmar electric cabin-top winch support deck operations alongside a Maxwell 800 electric windlass and Mantus anchor with quarter-inch HT chain.

The cockpit is spacious with folding table and closed-cell cushions, offering good visibility for day sailing and longer passages. A drop-down opening transom with integral swim ladder and forespar davits provide convenient access for swimming and tender operations at anchor. Bowsprit with double bow rollers and a three-blade prop complete the boat's working outfit.
