The 1997 Island Packet 29 Folly Dodger is a heavily built fiberglass cruising sailboat designed for comfortable voyaging and stable anchoring rather than racing performance. Hull number 61 of just 64 built, this cutter-rigged yacht features the model's characteristic spacious, high-quality interior and easy single-handed sailing capability. The 30 horsepower Yanmar diesel provides reliable auxiliary power, with cruising speeds around 5 knots and a maximum of approximately 6.7 knots.

The yacht accommodates one cabin with a single head. Below deck, the interior is generously proportioned for a 29-footer, reflecting Island Packet's reputation for roomy, well-finished living spaces. The boat includes a lazy jack and stack pack system for mainsail handling and newer genoa roller furling equipment. Electronics include a Raymarine Axiom 9+ chart plotter with Navionics, AIS receiver, and an ICOM VHF radio with GPS and remote cockpit microphone. Navigation and safety equipment encompasses three 100 aH AGM batteries, a battery monitor, and multiple anchors with prepared rode.

Recent refit work spans engine systems, propulsion, and infrastructure: new Yanmar exhaust components, raw water pump, and cutless bearing with repacked stuffing box completed in 2019–2021. The boat received new blackwater and holding tanks with macerator, additional propane tank capacity, and fresh bottom paint applied twice between 2019 and 2022. Canvas work included new Isinglass panels and professional rig inspection in 2019, with a new genoa furler system installed in 2020. Electrical upgrades through mid-2022 added Seatalk networking capability to the navigation suite. The helm seat was reupholstered and cockpit cushions restuffed with marine-grade foam. Varnish refinishing of teak trim was completed in 2022.
