The 1997 Ocean Yachts 48 Convertible is a 48-foot sportfisher built on a fiberglass hull with an unusually wide 16-foot beam. Twin Detroit Diesel 6V92 DDEC engines deliver 1,250 horsepower total, driving the yacht to a top speed of 30 knots and a comfortable cruising speed of 25 knots. The helm features a three-sided EZ2CY enclosure, Garmin and Simrad electronics with autopilot, and Rupp outriggers.
The accommodations include three staterooms and two full heads with showers. The master stateroom offers a queen berth with an ensuite head and shower, while the forward stateroom provides a queen berth with private access to the guest head and shower. A third bunkroom completes the sleeping quarters. The cabin layout rivals that of significantly larger yachts.
The diesel engines had 1,515 original hours and run strong. This yacht was originally purchased new on Lake Michigan and remained in the Great Lakes until 2014, when it was brought to the upper Chesapeake Bay, later relocating to the lower Chesapeake Bay in 2021.
