This 1998 Alden Custom 63 is a composite-hulled yacht designed by John G. Alden Naval Architects and built through a collaboration between Eric Goetz Custom Boats and Derecktor Shipyards. The hull and deck were constructed using vacuum-bagged biaxial E-glass in epoxy resin over Baltec Contourkore, with Nomex structural bulkheads for weight savings. Derecktor completed the systems, machinery, and joinery work. At 63 feet with a 16.5-foot beam, the yacht combines traditional styling with strong sailing performance through a powerful sail plan, moderate-draft keel, and deep spade rudder.
The boat has proven competitive in offshore racing under ORR rules, local PHRF racing, and classic yacht events under the CYOA rule. Her hull form and design allow her to perform well in light winds while remaining stable and sea-kindly in heavy conditions. Modern wireless and helm control systems enable easy sail trim adjustments without the complexity typically found only on much larger yachts.
The interior is finished to a high standard with three spacious cabins and two heads. A Cummins diesel engine rated at 130 horsepower provides auxiliary power, with a cruising speed of 9 knots. The yacht is well-equipped for extended cruising and comes ready for immediate use.
