1998 Boston Whaler Outrage 17
About This Yacht
This 1998 Boston Whaler Outrage 17 is an 18-foot center console built on the company's Accutrack deep-V hull, designed to handle both bay and offshore conditions. The fiberglass hull combines a deep-V entry with a reverse chine and Unibond construction for stability and spray control. A single 90-horsepower engine powers the boat.
Boston Whaler's construction prioritizes durability and corrosion resistance throughout. The hull and deck form a single sealed unit, and lifting eyes are reinforced and built completely through the hull for towing and lifting strength. All fasteners are chrome-plated stainless steel, and the bow rail is welded 316 stainless to prevent water penetration and staining. Hardware hinges are solid stainless steel rather than stamped, and cleats are oversized for long service life.
Interior and deck detailing reflects the same attention. All seats and bases use rot-proof composite materials. The cockpit features molded-in nonskid surfaces throughout, and interior surfaces including the bilge are finished in smooth gel coat with no exposed fiberglass to trap water and debris. Custom wiring harnesses use shrink-tube connectors, tinned copper wire, and waterproof switches and circuit breakers to resist corrosion in saltwater use.
