1998 Canaveral 36SFX Sportfisher West Coast

The Afishinado is a 1998 Canaveral 36SFX Sportfisher, a 40-foot deep-vee raised-helm express built to West Coast fishing specifications. Twin Tier III Cummins 6.7 diesel engines deliver 850 horsepower, powering the boat to 30 knots and a cruising speed of 24 knots. The fiberglass hull has never blistered and is known for its solid performance in choppy offshore conditions. Fuel capacity is 410 gallons.

The cockpit is purpose-built for fishing, with a large center bait tank, two in-deck fish holds, tackle center, and rod locker for twelve 7-foot rods. Drop-down outriggers and a center rigger allow for varied presentations. The raised helm station with tower seating three provides command of the cockpit and sight lines to anglers. The tower also mounts the electronics package: a large multifunction display for plotting and sonar, radar, and autopilot. Solar panels are installed for charging.

Belowdecks offers genuine cruising accommodation. A dinette converts to a bunk; there is a double bunk forward and a sleeper loft with a window to the helm. The galley has an electric stove, microwave, full-size refrigerator, and sink. The head and shower are walk-in. Fresh water capacity is 40 gallons with room for an additional 40, and grey-water storage is 35 gallons. Storage includes six drawers, two vertical closets, overhead bins, and under-bunk space.

The engines were refit with newer blocks in 2015 and 2017, running 4200 and 2900 hours respectively, with recent work on cutlass bearings and prop alignment. A 5-kilowatt generator (350 hours) is installed but not currently operational. Engine access is straightforward via a stand-up room with a draw pump provided for servicing.
