1998 Cherubini 50 Independence

The 1998 Cherubini 50 Independence is a pilothouse trawler built to established design principles and high construction standards. Twin Cummins 6BTA 5.9 diesel engines producing 370 horsepower each deliver economical cruising at 9 knots with a top speed of 15 knots. The fiberglass hull spans 50 feet in length with a 14.5-foot beam, powered by a fuel capacity of 600 gallons for extended range.

The boat accommodates two staterooms and two heads, with well over six feet of headroom throughout. The master stateroom features a centerline double berth forward, while the guest stateroom offers twin berths with an optional third. The raised pilothouse includes a six-foot convertible bench seat and table, with large windows providing forward and side visibility. The expansive saloon and galley take advantage of the full beam, accessed via the pilothouse or aft deck. The upper deck provides dinghy placement and launching capability.

A comprehensive 2020–2021 refit included new engines and transmissions, new modern stabilizers, updated air conditioning and galley appliances, new electronics, rebedded windows, and a new hull paint. The boat features a bow thruster, active fin stabilizers, a generator, and an array of current navigation equipment including Garmin multifunction displays and autopilots on both pilothouse and flybridge helms. The aft deck includes a nine-by-six-foot lazarette with large hatch access. Additional systems include a washer-dryer, freshwater and raw water washdown, hot and cold shower, and dual electrical inlets.
