1998 Cobalt 220

The Cobalt 220 is a 22-foot runabout built on a solid fiberglass foundation with a hand-laid hull using seven layers of glass mat and woven roving—Cobalt's proprietary Hydrolam process. The keel, chines, and strakes are reinforced with a Kevlar-E-glass hybrid for impact resistance and reduced weight. Vinylester resins, fiberglass motor mounts, and integrally reinforced stringers work together to suppress vibration and noise. The deck and hull are finished in Armorflex 953 gelcoat, chosen for its durability, gloss, and blister resistance. All hardware is backed by embedded aluminum plates.

Power comes from a 4.3-liter Alpha MerCruiser gasoline engine rated at 190 horsepower. The boat's design emphasizes open, comfortable seating with Varadense-cushioned captain's chairs on the sundeck interior. The cockpit features a leather steering wheel with tilt, snap-in carpet over finished non-skid surfaces, and a fully upholstered dash. A color-matched convertible top is standard.

Storage throughout the boat is generous and thoughtfully detailed—carpet in some areas, rubber matting in others, with drainage to the bilge where moisture is a concern. Lighting is integrated where needed, and a ski locker fits knee boards easily. A Sony digital sound system, walk-thru doors, and flip-lip buckets round out the standard equipment package. The 220 can be customized with options including transom showers, rosewood dash panels, port sleeper seats, swiveling cockpit tables, and stern curtains.
