This 1998 Island Packet 40 is a fiberglass cruising sailboat built on a reputation for solid construction and seaworthiness. At 40 feet long with a 12.92-foot beam, she carries a single 50-horsepower Yammer diesel engine that delivers a cruising speed of 6 knots and maximum speed of 7.5 knots. The design accommodates two cabins and two heads, making her suitable for extended cruising or living aboard.
The boat has received substantial recent work. Standing rigging was replaced in 2022 with new chainplates installed in 2024. A new Genoa and staysail by Mack Sails were added in 2024, complemented by a full-battened mainsail from 2015 and a Trade Marine high-performance sail track on the mast, also from 2015. A custom arch fitted with three 135-watt solar panels sits aft, alongside new davits and outboard hoist added in 2023 along with a fresh Bimini and dodger.
Interior systems include a Force 10 stove with oven, Adler Barbor 12-volt refrigeration and freezer, and a Cruise RO water maker producing 30 gallons per hour. A Sea Gull water filtering system is installed, with a Type III MSD holding tank added in 2019 and equipped with deck pump-out and macerator. High-pressure laminate counters with sea rails run throughout. The engine features a dripless shaft seal and a three-blade Max-Prop feathering propeller with line cutter.
Navigation and deck handling have been upgraded with a new Raymarine electronics suite installed in 2024, a Starlink system, and a Lighthouse 1501 windlass with dual gypsies and deck and salon controls. Dual anchor rollers with split locker and a 2024 Rocna anchor complete the ground tackle. Additional recent upgrades enhance the boat's capabilities for offshore and extended cruising.
