The 1998 Luhrs 36 SX Open is a dual-console sportfisherman built on a deep-V hull with a 13'6" beam and Carolina-style flared bow. Twin Caterpillar 3126 diesel engines, each rated at 425 hp, have been fully rebuilt with approximately 40 hours of running time since completion. A Kohler generator supplies auxiliary power, and an automatic anchor windlass provides convenient deck handling.
The helm features a hardtop, full enclosure, and a tower with integrated controls and instrumentation for offshore navigation. Visibility from the helm is excellent whether seated or standing. Electronics include three Simrad GPS chartplotters with side scan and high/low CHIRP transducers. The cockpit is laid out for fishing, with an above-deck livewell, transom fish box, transom door, fresh and raw water washdowns, electric reel outlets, rod holders throughout, and dedicated rod storage compartments.
Below deck, the cabin accommodates up to six with a forward V-berth, convertible dinette, and settee. The galley includes Corian countertops, refrigerator/freezer, microwave, and range. An enclosed head with a separate shower stall and ample storage complete the interior layout, including hidden rod storage designed into the cabin design.
