The 1998 Ocean Yachts SS40 is a 40-foot fiberglass sportfish powered by twin Caterpillar 3126 diesel engines producing 840 horsepower. The boat reaches 30 knots at full speed and cruises comfortably at 23 knots. With a beam of 15.5 feet, it offers substantial stability and interior volume.

The hull requires attention in specific areas. There is damage near a seacock that has been quoted for repair, and the bottom needs paint. Moisture readings in the affected section have been tested. The topsides show minor cosmetic wear including small gel coat spots on deck and dock dings near the rail. Oxidation is present but responds well to waxing. The bow hatch requires resealing.

The salon contains a U-shaped seating arrangement with one cushion showing a small tear. Helm seats need minor stitching repairs. In the engine room, the port aftercooler has a small pinhole at a weld that was previously repaired and remains stable; one tube in that cooler requires replacement. The port temperature gauge needs to be replaced. The cooling system was tested and is functioning properly.

Electronics include a working depthfinder but require an updated Simrad system for autopilot control and antenna wire repair. The generator runs reliably and has logged 3,400 hours. The boat has been maintained in the water over recent years and shows evidence of various repairs throughout its service history.
