A 1998 Pacific Seacraft 40 designed by W.I.B. Crealock, representing the evolution of the builder's successful 31, 34, 37, and 44 models. The fiberglass hull carries a double spreader cutter rig with the mast keel-stepped, supported by inboard shrouds positioned for tight sheeting angles and close-winded performance. The deck features a centerline king plank for secure footing, an extended bow platform with windlass boss, a solid boom-vang with lines led aft to the cockpit, molded sheer-water for dodger attachment, mid-boom sheeting on the main, tall stanchions and lifelines, eight large mooring cleats, and bulwarks for safety and footing.
Below deck, the yacht accommodates two separate staterooms, an enclosed head with separate shower stall, a spacious salon, gourmet galley, and a large navigation station with forward and outboard electronics mounting panels. Engine room access is excellent from both the cockpit and aft of the companionway ladder.
The underbody is engineered with a long chord fin incorporating external lead ballast that serves as a grounding shoe, paired with a heavily constructed full skeg protecting the rudder. The distinctive design places the propeller in an aperture within the skeg, eliminating exposed shaft or strut vulnerability. A moderately deep forefoot enables comfortable upwind sailing without pounding. The 52 horsepower Yanmar diesel provides auxiliary power.
The cutter rig balances well across varying wind conditions and delivers average speeds of 7 to 8 knots or better on and off the wind, supporting swift passages and increased daily mileage.
