This 1998 Wellcraft Scarab 29 is a high-performance offshore boat powered by a custom-built 540 cubic inch Dart Big Merlin big-block engine equipped with a Whipple 3.3-liter supercharger and intercooler. The engine features premium internals including an Eagle forged crank and rods, Ross blower pistons, Manley Severe Duty valves, Crane hydraulic roller cam, and MSD ignition, paired with an Inco Xtreme II outdrive and Hydromotive five-blade propeller. The solid fiberglass deep-V hull has a 23-degree deadrise designed for offshore conditions and delivers strong mid-range torque with reliable performance. The boat was recently serviced for high-elevation operation, with adjustments to the supercharger pulley, carburetion, timing, water pump, fuel system, and spark plugs.
The 29-foot boat includes a forward cuddy cabin with a V-berth suitable for two people, and a basic enclosed head with a portable toilet. The cockpit features twin bolster bucket seats, an aft bench, and cushioned seating, with a swim platform and ladder at the stern. A new silver Sunbrella cover protects the cockpit, and a premium marine stereo system with 8.8-inch speakers, 5-channel amplifier, and 10-inch subwoofer is installed throughout.
The boat received substantial professional refurbishment. In 2017, Bullet Fiberglass completed a major hull and deck refresh including gelcoat repairs, fender replacement, graphics work, and color-sand and polish. The same year, the interior was reupholstered in two-tone white and grey with teal accents and new carpet. Regular service and maintenance have been performed throughout ownership, with recent work completed in 2023. A matching trailer is included, fully serviced with new bearings, rollers, and brake fluid.
