The Bavaria 38 Ocean is a fiberglass cruising motor yacht built in 1999, measuring 38 feet in length with a 13-foot beam. Powered by a single 50-horsepower Volvo diesel engine, the boat combines modest power with solid construction designed for extended cruising with a small crew. The central cockpit layout and full-featured design reflect thoughtful passage-making intent.
Below deck, the boat offers two cabins and one head. The aft cabin features a king-size berth, while the forward cabin provides double berths. The galley sits amidships with convenient access from the saloon, which includes convertible seating. A separate shower stall and head complete the sanitation facilities. Interior fixtures include electric heating, a refrigerator with eutectic plate, a 60-liter water heater, LED lighting throughout, and a bow thruster for maneuvering.
Power and autonomy are supported by dual 140-amp service batteries installed in 2022, dual 70-amp engine batteries from 2021, and a comprehensive electrical system featuring 260 watts of solar panels on an inox arch and a lateral-folding hydro-generator installed in 2022. A 15-meter and 10-meter shore-power extension cable are included. The boat carries complete offshore equipment: a 6-person liferaft surveyed in 2024, EPIRB and AIS transceivers, fixed and handheld VHF radios, Raymarine navigation electronics including radar and autopilot, and a full complement of safety lines and harness points.
The boat underwent systematic refitting between 2016 and 2024, including new through-hulls and seacocks, updated saildrive seal, new raw-water pump, and preventive distribution belt replacement. An inflatable tender with outboard motor and a 3-meter folding aluminum boarding ladder are aboard. The teak deck may require attention.
