This 45-foot aluminum trawler was designed by George Buehler as a fuel-efficient, long-range cruiser suited to passage-making and easy handling by a small crew. Built in 1999 and launched in 2005 by McNally Marine in Ontario, she features a 13-foot beam and 4-foot 6-inch draft. The hull is aluminum construction from a builder known for commercial vessels and yacht work.
Power comes from a single 60-horsepower Betamarine diesel engine. At cruising speed of 6.5 knots, fuel consumption runs approximately 1.3 gallons per hour, providing a cruising range exceeding 3,500 nautical miles. Maximum speed reaches 8 knots. The boat is built for stable, predictable performance in open water and offers the fuel economy and range needed for extended offshore passages.
The boat has been actively cruised since launch. The original owners lived aboard and undertook a circumnavigation of South America. The current owner has maintained her for the last 12 years with continued upkeep and upgrades, cruising the Eastern Seaboard and Bahamas. This model appears in the latest edition of "Voyaging Under Power" by Capt. Beebe and revised by Dennis Umstot.
