1999 Oyster 53

The Oyster 53 is a 1999 center-cockpit sloop built from fiberglass with a cutter rig and teak interior joinery. She measures 53 feet in length with a 15.25-foot beam and is powered by an 88-horsepower Yammer diesel engine, capable of a 7-knot cruising speed. The accommodations include three cabins, two heads, a mechanics room, and substantial storage in the forward and aft sections.

In 2024, the yacht underwent comprehensive refitting: the deck received non-skid coating, standing rigging was entirely renewed, topside coatings and bottom paint were applied, canvas was replaced, interior upholstery was refreshed, and a new staysail was fitted. A dripless shaft seal was also installed at that time.

The boat is equipped for extended offshore cruising with B&G Zeus S3 chartplotters and supporting displays, autopilot, dual radar, AIS, and SSB radio. Additional systems include Starlink connectivity, 24-volt electrical power with 360-amp-hour capacity, a 2500-watt 220-volt inverter, and a solar array. Tank capacity provides over 200 gallons each for fuel and water. The mechanical systems encompass a generator set, air compressor, high-volume water maker, forced-air hydronic heating, and bow thrusters. An 8-person life raft and an OC rigid tender are included.
