The 1999 Sea Ray 500 Sundancer is a 50-foot express cruiser built on a fiberglass hull with the commanding presence and offshore capability the model is known for. Twin Detroit Diesel 6V92 DDEC engines deliver 606 hp each, powering the boat to a cruising speed of 18 knots and a top speed of 23 knots. Both engines underwent top-end rebuilds in May 2023, and the boat carries upgraded electronic engine controls with dual displays. A bow thruster with upgraded controller and stern thruster are installed for precise maneuvering, paired with Bennett trim tabs for sea keeping.
The interior includes two cabins and two heads. Recent work includes stateroom carpeting replacement and a new LG washer-dryer combination. The Dometic self-contained air conditioning systems were replaced in 2017. Marine heads have been rebuilt, and fresh water systems feature a new pump with bleed valve and 24-volt backup capability.
Systems have been comprehensively upgraded. A Seafari Mini watermaker produces fresh water underway. Black and grey water systems were renewed with Johnson pumps and check valves. The Northern Lights 12kW generator underwent a rework with approximately 850 hours on the unit. Raw water cooling runs dual new pumps with backup configuration. All batteries were replaced in spring 2025. Two spare four-blade propellers, balanced and coated with Prop Speed, are included. The boat carries full service history on main engines and generator, with significant mechanical investment made from December 2022 through January 2023.
