2000 Farr 40

The Farr 40 is a Bruce Farr One Design racing yacht built for speed and offshore performance. At 40.7 feet with a composite hull and carbon fiber mast, spreaders, and spinnaker boom, the boat delivers the light weight and structural efficiency needed for competitive sailing across handicap systems including ORCi and SRS. A single Yanmar diesel engine provides auxiliary power. The deck layout is clean and functional with trim lines routed below deck, keeping the working area uncluttered for crew movement during racing or cruising.

Accommodations include sea berths, a navigation table, galley, and one head—practical spaces designed for offshore work rather than comfort. The boat handles easily under sail and can be managed by two to three people for cruising, though a crew of six is recommended for racing and more for heavy weather work. A 3Di Carbon Square Top mainsail fitted ahead of the 2017 season increased power and sail area, paired with dual backstays and Antal XT44R winches. The original backstay configuration remains available, keeping the boat in full Farr 40 One Design specification otherwise.

The hull was refurbished below the waterline in 2016 with Hempel SilicOne coating. Navigation systems include B&G Hercules 2000 processor, B&G instruments, and mast displays. The boat is measured and race-ready for ORCi competition. A substantial sail wardrobe is included: a Quantum jib in race condition for light winds and updated jibs for the bow. The yacht carries its history of competitive success and has been maintained with performance as the priority over cosmetic appearance.
