The Island Packet 380 is a 38-foot cruising sailboat with proven design fundamentals refined across over 1,500 hulls. Built in fiberglass with a full foil keel, it offers moderate draft, superior strength, and effective windward performance. Power comes from a 50-horsepower Yanmar diesel. The boat features a cutter rig with freestanding staysail boom and dual-line reefing system, with all sails delivered by Sobstad equipped with Harken furling gear. Recent work in September 2025 included new standing rigging, bottom paint, lifelines, cutlass bearing, shaft seal, and hull and deck polishing, along with service and coating of the Brunton AutoProp.
The deck layout emphasizes safety and accessibility with wide walkways, raised bulwarks, full-length continuous stainless steel cabin top handrails, and double lifelines with welded rails fore and aft. The cockpit features full-length contoured seats, raised helmsman seating with padded backrest, and rack and pinion wheel steering with brake and single-lever engine control. Practical touches include an insulated beverage locker, two large seat lockers, hand-held cold shower to the swim step, deep swim ladder, and stern rail seats.
Accommodations include two cabins and one head in an open, well-proportioned layout. The forward owner's cabin has a centerline queen berth with access from both sides, lift-up storage chest, hanging locker, and private head access. The aft cabin features an athwart-ship Pullman berth with built-in hideaway sink and cedar-lined hanging locker. The main salon centers on a hinged dining table with full-length settees. The galley starboard of the companionway includes sealed burner LPG stove and oven, microwave, deep stainless steel sinks, and well-insulated icebox with provisions for electric refrigeration. The head is notably spacious with folding shower enclosure, vanity, large overhead hatch, and opening port.
The boat carries extensive cruising systems: dual 265-watt Kyocera solar panels, Air Breeze wind generator, Spectra Ventura 200 watermaker, Muir 12-volt anchor windlass, Sidepower 12-volt bow thruster, and a custom stainless steel transom-mounted radar arch with dinghy davits and mounts for solar and wind power gear. Interior joinery is hand-oiled teak with premium fabrics and dual-density cushioning. Numerous opening ports, deck vents, and hatches provide natural light and ventilation throughout.
