2000 Legacy 40 Sedan

This 40-foot Legacy sedan cruises on a single 450-horsepower Cummins diesel engine installed in 2022 with just 400 hours of running time. The boat carries updated Garmin electronics including a 5212 touchscreen chartplotter with radar overlay, dual helm stations for navigation control, and bow and stern thrusters operated by twin joysticks. A custom fiberglass hardtop crowns the aft deck, and the teak appointment throughout—cap rails, decking, swim platform, and transom—gives the interior and exterior a unified, refined character.

Below, the layout centers on two cabins: the forward master stateroom with a walk-around queen berth, overhead hatch, and port and starboard portlights; the guest cabin to starboard with an offset double berth. A shared head compartment serves both, featuring an upgraded Tecma freshwater system and large vanity. The galley sits to port with a new 12-volt Frigoboat refrigerator and freezer, a recently added Empava induction cooktop, and Corian countertops. Rich mahogany joinery and teak-and-holly flooring run throughout. The main salon offers a full helm station, a settee with an expandable table, and ample natural light through salon windows.

The mechanical systems reflect recent attention: the 2022 engine replacement comes with full service records. A full bottom job in 2024 included new bottom paint, rudder packing, and shaft seal work. The 2017 hull repaint in flag blue remains in good condition. Heating and cooling include a 16,000-BTU reverse-cycle unit in the salon and a 12,000-BTU unit forward, along with an Espar diesel heater added in 2017. A Northern Lights 5.5-kilowatt generator with sound shield supports the electrical plant and onboard systems.
