2000 Protector Targa 28

The Protector Targa 28 is a 28-foot cuddy cabin built on a solid hand-laid fiberglass deep-V hull, powered by twin Yamaha F150XB outboard engines producing 300 horsepower combined. Originally designed for Coast Guard service in New Zealand, Protector boats are engineered for exceptional offshore performance, strength, and rough-water handling. This model pairs its durable fiberglass construction with Hypalon inflatable tubes divided into seven separate chambers, providing shock absorption, stability, and enhanced flotation typical of this class.

Below deck, the cuddy cabin offers 6 feet 4 inches of headroom and two twin bunks running fore and aft, providing sleeping accommodation for two. The aft cockpit seats multiple adults and connects to a forward cockpit area, both featuring integrated stainless steel tow posts and tow eyes for watersports and towing operations. A Targa hardtop provides weather protection across the helm and forward seating areas.

The helm station is equipped with substantial offshore electronics and navigation gear: Garmin 7212 radar, ICOM IC-M4240 VHF with GPS, an autopilot, compass, and Lenco trim tabs. The boat includes a Fusion stereo system with cockpit speakers, a cockpit shower, cockpit and transom LED lighting, and navigation and anchor lights. Storage comprises nine protected compartments throughout the boat. Additional features include a Hypalon ice box with drain, a compressor, plumbing prepared for an electric head, and a windshield with wipers.

The twin Yamaha outboards were upgraded in 2018 and show only 400 hours of use. The inflatable tubes were replaced by Henshaw England in 2019, and the cockpit and cabin upholstery is new. The boat comes equipped with a claw anchor with 8 feet of chain and 100 feet of rode, stainless steel grab rails, fire extinguishers, dock lines, fenders, and a kayak with paddles.
