2001 Bavaria 40

This 2001 Bavaria 40 is a fiberglass cruising sailboat built for comfort and seaworthiness. The boat measures 39 feet in length with a beam of approximately 13 feet. It is powered by a single Volvo D2-55 diesel engine with around 2,000 hours of use. The boat has been owned by the same person for 20 years and has received regular dealer maintenance, including a recent engine service in November with exchanger cleaning, exhaust elbow replacement, and cooling system work.

The interior provides three double cabins and two heads with manual marine toilets. Water capacity totals 300 liters across two tanks. The galley features a gas cooktop and oven, water heater, and stainless steel refrigerator. Two service batteries of 404 Ah each were installed in 2023, along with a separate motor battery. Solar panels totaling 400 watts provide charging capability, supplemented by a 220V shore power charger and an independent battery for onboard 220V power. An electric bilge pump with automatic operation is fitted.

The sailing rig includes a battened mainsail on Selden slides, a 2017 genoa on an electric roller, a Code 0 purchased in 2023, and an asymmetric spinnaker on an extendable pole. All winches are self-tailing chrome models. An electric windlass with 60 meters of 2023 chain and a new bow thruster with dedicated battery are installed. Navigation equipment includes fixed VHF with DSC, AIS/GPS, anemometer, depth sounder, log, autopilot, and a 2023 Iridium Go. An inox davit, inflatable tender with Honda 2hp engine purchased in 2022, and removable cockpit table complete the setup.

A comprehensive refit program is underway, including full hull treatment, new bow thruster installation, cockpit teak replacement with Flexiteek, and lower pintle and rudder ring replacement. Standing rigging appears in good visual condition and the running rigging shows approximately 20 percent wear.
