The Caliber 40LRC is a 40-foot cruising sailboat built on proven principles of offshore seakeeping and structural integrity. Her modified fin keel with skeg-hung rudder delivers responsive handling and directional stability, while her high ballast-to-displacement ratio and substantial weight ensure steady motion through heavy seas. The hull is hand-laid fiberglass using traditional lamination methods, with extra solid layers at impact points and a collision pocket forward to minimize flooding risk. The rudder assembly features a welded steel core on a solid 1.5-inch stainless steel shaft, supported by a three-bearing system with the upper bearing housed inside the boat for protection. The keel, tanks, and sub-sole are integrated structurally into the hull rather than bolted on, creating a unified structure that distributes loads evenly and provides a double-bottom safeguard.

The cockpit is designed for safe, efficient sailing short-handed. All control lines lead aft to self-tailing winches, and the single-line auto-reefing system operates from the helm. A large-diameter wheel lets the skipper sit to windward with clear sight of the sails. The T-shaped layout offers ample room, with an insulated icebox, boarding platform at the stern, and folding ladder for dinghy access or swimming. Forward, a teak and stainless steel anchor platform protects the hull.

Below deck, the boat offers genuine stateroom comfort. The forward cabin features a spacious offset berth with storage, served by a separate head with an enclosed Plexiglas shower. The aft stateroom includes a double berth and large hanging locker, with its own head accessible from both the stateroom and main salon. The main salon is well-lit and teak-appointed, with a twin-leaf dining table that folds against the bulkhead. The L-shaped galley is efficient, with a two-burner stove and oven, twin sinks, large icebox, and substantial counter space. Ventilation throughout is excellent with fourteen opening portholes, seven overhead hatches, a solar fan, and two dorades.

The boat carries 230 gallons of fuel and 195 gallons of water, with dual tanks and filters for each, providing extended range and redundancy. A Yanmar diesel engine of 50 horsepower provides auxiliary power. The yacht accommodates two cabins with two heads and is designed for ocean cruising with self-sufficiency and durability as core principles.
