2001 Carver 396

This 2001 Carver 396 is a 40-foot fiberglass cruiser powered by twin 8.1-liter Chevy MercRuiser gasoline engines producing 840 horsepower combined. The boat reaches speeds into the mid-30s mph range and cruises comfortably at 26 mph. It features an aft cabin layout with two bedrooms, each with walk-around beds, and two bathrooms with separate showers. The interior is notably spacious, with a large great room enhanced by the boat's raised gunnel design.

Navigation and systems are well-equipped with a new Furuno chartplotter with radar and depth scanning, new Garmin radio with AIS, autopilot, and a Starlink system. Mechanical updates include new engine raw water pumps, new high-amperage alternators, a new large inverter, and a new AC raw water pump. The boat carries three AC systems, LED lighting and USB outlets throughout, and new batteries. An all-chain windlass, 1.3-liter Ford generator, and new canvas and Isinglass work completed in 2019 are also included.

The engines have approximately 1,400 total hours, with 700 of those hours accumulated during Great Loop cruising at moderate RPM and extended daily runs. The motors are reported to be well-maintained, tight, and burning no oil between changes. A tender with 5-horsepower 4-stroke engine mounts to vertical rear davits. The hull has been stored indoors during winter months and recently received professional polish and wax.
