2001 Outremer 45

This 2001 Outremer 45 is a performance-oriented offshore catamaran built with a reinforced fiberglass hull and designed by Gerard Danson for strength and seaworthiness. The yacht features distinctive performance keels with daggerboard-like efficiency, extended sugar-scoop transoms that improve handling and provide an expanded swim platform, and a beam of nearly 24 feet that delivers stability across open water. Power comes from two 60-horsepower Yammer diesel engines driving Variprop folding propellers, allowing cruising speeds around 7 knots and a maximum speed of 8 knots.

Below deck, the layout includes four cabins and two heads arranged for comfortable liveaboard cruising. The galley is equipped with a stove, oven, refrigerator, freezer, and icemaker. A 100-liter-per-hour watermaker provides fresh water independence. Navigation and communication systems include Raymarine dual chart plotters, autopilot, and AIS, along with Starlink satellite communication for remote passages. Safety equipment encompasses an EPIRB, deck lighting, and fume detectors.

The yacht's electrical systems support extended cruising with 1000 watts of solar panels, a 3000-watt Victron inverter, and lithium battery banks charged by engine alternators. Sails include a carbon Technora mainsail, self-tacking jib, and spinnaker, all supported by new Dyneema rigging completed in 2022. The cockpit features new cushions, a three-sided awning, and a bimini offering over six feet of headroom.

Recent work includes a 2022 overhaul of the mast, boom, and rigging with corrosion treatment throughout, new starter motor and water pump, and comprehensive inspection of all joints. The steering is hydraulic with an emergency tiller backup. Multiple bilge pumps and fire extinguishers provide redundant safety systems.
