The 2001 Tiara Yachts 2900 Open is a 28-foot fiberglass cruiser built for serious offshore fishing and comfortable daysailing. Twin Crusader gasoline engines producing 740 horsepower drive the boat, with a beam of 11 feet 4 inches providing stability and working space.
The open cockpit is the yacht's defining feature—spacious and well-laid-out with helm and companion seating back-to-back as standard. The design accommodates optional curved companion lounges and fold-away rear seating, and the cockpit is large enough for a fighting chair and tackle equipment. Below decks sits a comfortable cabin with a convertible dinette that transforms into a 6-foot-4-inch double berth, a full galley, forward double berth, and one head.
The boat has undergone substantial mechanical and systems work. Engine risers and manifolds were replaced early in its service life. Recent years have included thorough attention to both engines: fuel pressure relief valves, ignition systems, alternator and raw water belts, oil pressure sending units, and oil and transmission coolers. A new Raymarine electronics suite was installed in 2023, comprising chart plotter, radar, autopilot, depth finder, VHF radio, and antenna. Battery banks were refreshed in 2022 and 2024. The bimini top and enclosure curtains are new as of 2022, with a cockpit winter cover added in 2023. Hull maintenance has included bottom paint and running gear work in both 2024 and 2025, with fresh wax applied to the topsides. AC systems, stereo equipment, bilge pumps, and various hardware have all been addressed in recent years.
