The Buizen 48 is a hand-built fiberglass cruising yacht launched in 2002, built in Australia to standards that set it apart in its class. At nearly 48 feet with a 14.67-foot beam, it combines robust construction with thoughtful design across all systems and accommodations. The yacht is powered by a 110-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine.
The interior is organized around a pilot house deck saloon—a defining feature of the Buizen design that provides all-weather protection and a naturally lit living space with panoramic views. Four cabins accommodate extended cruising: the forward master with private ensuite, a twin cabin opposite the galley for additional bunk space, a private double aft cabin, and a pilot berth cabin. Two heads with shower facilities and a galley with superyacht-grade appointments support comfortable extended passages.
Equipment reflects a comprehensive specification: bow thruster, generator, air-conditioning system, davits, water maker, and all four cockpit winches powered. The sail plan includes an in-boom furling main, genoa, number three jib, staysail, furling gennaker, storm jib, and trysail. A removeable inner forestay allows flying a stay sail for enhanced performance.
Recent maintenance has been substantial. The electrical system underwent a major upgrade with significant wiring replacement. New auto-pilot and cockpit chart plotter were installed in 2024, and new battery banks in 2025. The hull was completely stripped, soda blasted, and refinished with new coatings in 2024. The Yanmar engine receives regular professional servicing. The boat is AMSA registered and has been maintained in blue water sailing condition after recent Pacific cruising.
