This 38-foot Custom Libby Downeast is a working boat built on Beals Island, Maine, combining traditional hull design with a 575-horsepower Scania diesel engine. She cruises at 14 to 16 knots, burns through 375 gallons of fuel capacity for extended range, and is powered by a heat exchanger-cooled engine with a dry stack exhaust. A 7.5-kilowatt generator supports onboard systems. The wheelhouse offers 360-degree visibility with helm station and settees, while the open cockpit spans the full 13-foot beam.
The single cabin sleeps four with upper and lower berths forward. A Jabsco electric head with shower serves the accommodation. The galley includes a stainless steel sink, Isotherm refrigerator, and Sharp microwave. Entertainment features a Jensen satellite radio and CD/DVD/VCR system with a flatscreen Samsung television.
The boat carries extensive electronics: three VHF radios, two radars (Furuno and Raymarine), dual Raymarine hybrid touchscreen GPS units, a North Star GPS plotter, Raytheon depth sounder, Raymarine autopilot, and Ritchie compass. Fishing equipment is built into the design—an electric pot hauler with davit, large insulated center livewell with 4,500-gallon-per-minute pump, mounted rod holders throughout, custom outriggers, and standing rigging. A walk-through transom and multiple tackle boxes complete the fishing setup.
Recent upgrades include new thru-hulls, a harbor plug installed in the keel, new second helm station with controls, new electric pot hauler and washdown pump, updated hydraulic hoses, satellite TV antenna, removable daybed in the cabin, new 8D house battery, and new deck lights with wiring.
