2002 Hunter 356

The 2002 Hunter 356 is a 35-foot fiberglass sloop designed for comfortable cruising and easy handling. Powered by a 27-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine, she reaches a cruising speed of 6 knots and a maximum speed of 7.4 knots. The design emphasizes minimal exterior wood—reducing maintenance—while the deck layout brings all lines back to the cockpit for safety. In-mast furling on the main and roller furling on the headsail make sail handling straightforward, aided by self-tailing winches and an ATN Tacker. A stainless steel arch supports end-boom sheeting and traveler controls easily reached from the helm. The walk-through transom and swim platform simplify boarding, while the cockpit offers generous seating.

Below deck, two cabins provide sleeping accommodations with queen and V-berth berths fitted with memory foam toppers. The forward cabin features a 6'6" by 6'8" berth with substantial locker storage and large overhead hatch for ventilation. The master stateroom aft has an athwart-ship queen berth with padded teak headboard, nightstands, and a cedar-lined hanging locker. Both cabins offer excellent headroom and natural light through opening portholes and hatches.

The saloon combines a convertible dinette and an extended settee, both with under-seat storage, creating a spacious galley-forward layout with a navigation station. The saloon converts to an additional berth and features Corian countertops throughout. The galley includes a two-burner Force 10 stove with oven, separate refrigerator and freezer compartments, double stainless steel sink, and microwave. The dedicated head includes a separate shower stall with glass privacy door and teak-framed window.

Recent refits include new roller furling jib and sheets, in-mast furling main, main sheet and traveler hardware, and cruising asymmetric spinnaker, all installed between 2019 and 2022. The electrical system runs on four 6V house batteries with Xantrex charger, while electronics include Raymarine navigation systems, Vulcan multifunction display, and ICOM VHF. Mechanical systems include reverse-cycle air conditioning, hot water heater, dual bilge pumps, electric windlass, and comprehensive tank monitoring.
