2002 Hunter Passage 420

The 2002 Hunter Passage 420 is a 43-foot center cockpit cruising sailboat with a fiberglass hull and diesel power. Driven by a 56-horsepower Yanmar engine, she cruises at 6 knots and reaches 8 knots under power. The boat features a B&R rig with integrated cockpit arch, mast struts, and composite chainplates—design elements shared across Hunter's Passage line and known for delivering surprising performance in a center cockpit design.

Below deck, the layout centers on a spacious saloon with a convertible dinette and opposing settee, both offering substantial storage. A polished teak dining table sits amid rich fabrics and Corian surfaces. The galley is well-equipped with a side-by-side refrigerator and freezer, three-burner gimbaled range with oven, microwave, and twin stainless sinks. The navigation station opposite the galley provides dedicated space for electronics and ship's systems controls. Two staterooms accommodate cruising: an aft master with an island queen berth, inner-spring mattress, hanging wardrobes, and a private en suite head with shower; forward, a guest stateroom with a double berth and private head with shower, along with ample storage and natural light.

Extensive systems upgrades have been completed in recent years. The electrical system includes a Xantrex Freedom 458 inverter, 100-amp charger, and 80-amp Yanmar alternator, backed by four new house and start batteries. Solar generation comes from four panels totaling 780 watts with Victron MPPT charging. A 20-gallon-per-hour Seapro watermaker supplies fresh water. Climate control includes a 16,000 BTU forward air-conditioning and heating unit and a serviced aft unit. The navigation suite features a Raymarine Axion 9 display, RD418 HD radar, and Evolution EV-400 autopilot, all new in 2025.

Sail and rigging upgrades from 2020 include a mainsail with Sheldon in-mast furling, jib, new standing and running rigging, and an asymmetrical spinnaker with sock. The hull received two coats of Pettit Triton antifouling in 2025, and a new propeller was installed with a spare on board. Additional recent work includes rebuilt heads, replaced sanitary plumbing, new through-hull fittings and seacocks, new anchor with chain, and numerous interior upgrades to lighting, appliances, and safety equipment.
