2002 Saga 35

This 2002 Saga 35 is a performance cruiser designed by Robert Perry for couples and singlehanded sailors looking for serious offshore capability. Her long waterline, narrow beam, and powerful sailplan drive her efficiently through varying conditions, while thoughtful design features—walk-through transom, scoop stern, spacious cockpit, and bulbed keel—support extended cruising independence. The hull is solid fiberglass, powered by a 40-horsepower Yanmar diesel with 840 hours of service.

The interior layout centers around a central salon with drop-leaf table, positioned between a galley to port and navigation station to starboard. A forward stateroom with V-berth and private entry, a head with shower, and a generous quarterberth round out sleeping and living spaces. Headroom reaches 6'4" throughout most of the cabin. The design balances openness with abundant storage: the galley includes a 7.5-cubic-foot refrigerator with freezer, the nav station features a proper chart table, and cabin sole and locker access points are well-distributed. Interior details are carefully finished in American cherry cabinetry, teak and holly sole, and blue upholstered settee cushions in good condition.

Systems and equipment reflect serious cruising preparation. Electrical power comes from four 6v batteries installed in 2019, a 1000-watt inverter, and 120V outlets throughout. Navigation gear includes Raymarine radar, GPS, and autopilot displays; a Standard Horizon VHF; and a Ritchie compass. The diesel heating system, hot water on demand, and three cabin fans support year-round comfort. Mechanical systems are ABYC-compliant and easily accessed; the fuel tank was cleaned and fitted with an inspection port in 2021.

The sailplan comprises two foresail options—a self-tacking jib and a larger overlapping genoa—plus a full-batten main, all by North Sails. Harken and Spinlock hardware control sails from the cockpit. The mast and rigging were last refurbished in 2013 with new paint, replaced upper and intermediate shrouds, rebedded chainplates, and a new masthead fly and tricolor. A Muir electric anchor windlass, CQR anchor, and safety equipment including lifesling and emergency beacon complete the setup.
