2002 Tiara Yachts 2900 Open

The 2002 Tiara 2900 Open is a 29-foot fiberglass cruiser built for genuine offshore capability. Twin Yanmar 250 hp diesels installed in 2023 deliver efficiency and range, producing approximately 8 gallons per hour per motor at 18-knot cruising speed. The engines carry just 87 hours and were part of a comprehensive $150,000 refit completed in November 2023. Direct injection and common rail technology provide modern fuel economy and low emissions. The boat sits low in the water on twin Nibral propellers, steered hydraulically through a Teleflex system with 18-inch stainless destroyer wheel.

Below, the single cabin accommodates a forward double berth with storage, a convertible dinette to starboard that transforms into additional sleeping space, and a hanging locker. The galley sits to port with a molded fiberglass countertop, pressure-water sink, single-burner electric cooktop, microwave, and refrigerator. An electric head with 20-gallon holding tank serves the forward head compartment. Handlaid fiberglass construction with marine plywood stringers encapsulated in resin creates a solid backbone and contributes to the stable ride. Four oval opening port lights with screens provide ventilation and light.

The spacious cockpit features a large helm station with companion seating, an optional curved lounge, transom bench, and integrated swim platform with ladder. A Maxwell windlass was new in 2023. Navigation and communication include a Furuno chart plotter with radar, Simrad autopilot, and Standard Horizon VHF. A bait tank with new pump supports fishing. The electrical system runs dual battery banks with 120V and 12V distribution panels and 50-amp shore power capability. Raw and fresh water wash-down systems are installed.

The hull and deck employ water-barrier outer gelcoat with handlaid fiberglass. Bronze seacocks and through-hull fittings prevent corrosion. Tiara's diamond-pattern non-skid covers all deck and cockpit surfaces. The welded aluminum windshield with quarter-inch safety glass and center-hinged vent section offers structural integrity and visibility. Automatic bilge pumps and engine-room fire suppression are standard safety equipment.
