This 2003 Bavaria 44 is a fiberglass sailing yacht built to the J&J Design specifications that defined the brand's reputation for robust, sea-kindly cruisers. At 44.6 feet with a beam of nearly 14 feet, the boat carries a lead keel and substantial displacement that allow it to handle offshore conditions with stability and comfort. Power comes from a Volvo Penta 55-horsepower diesel engine paired with a feathering three-blade prop, and the yacht is equipped with a bow thruster installed in 2018. The sail plan includes a mainsail with three reef points, a genoa, and a spinnaker, supported by a full complement of winches and rigging hardware, including an inner forestay glassed into the deck during construction.
The interior is arranged as a three-cabin, two-head owner's layout finished in mahogany joinery. The forward cabin features a centerline California King berth with step-ups on either side, hanging storage, and a seating area. Two aft cabins each hold a queen berth and are fitted with chart holders and hanging lockers. The salon offers a U-shaped dinette with centerline bench seating, and the galley to port includes a Force 10 three-burner stove with oven and broiler. Both heads feature marine toilets, Corian-style countertops, and pull-out shower faucets.
Systems include a Webasto diesel cabin heater, a high-output alternator charging house batteries, a Freedom 20 inverter-charger, and Raymarine electronics throughout comprising an autopilot, speed and depth instruments, a C125 multifunction chartplotter installed in 2018, and a GPS with WAAS. Navigation aids include pedestal compasses and an ICOM 502 VHF radio. Deck equipment features twin helms, a walk-through transom with swim platform and boarding ladder, a transom shower with refitted fittings, a dodger and bimini, safety jacklines with padeyes, and a second anchor roller. The boat carries two anchors with 300 feet of chain and is fitted with a windlass.
The bow thruster controller was replaced in 2025 and the transom shower fittings in the same year. The refrigerator and freezer require servicing or replacement. A water maker is aboard but has not been operated in five years.
