The Bavaria 44 is a 2003 sailing yacht built around the J&J Design philosophy of balancing volume with performance. The hull carries substantial weight by modern standards, enabling it to power through rough conditions rather than ride over them. A 6.4-foot lead keel provides stability, and the boat is rigged with a powerful sail plan suited to blue-water cruising. The single Volvo Penta D2-55 diesel engine (950 hours, replaced in 2015) delivers 55 horsepower, with cruising speed around 6.5 knots and a maximum speed of 9 knots.
Below deck, three cabins and two heads offer comfortable accommodation across 44 feet of length. The interior features mahogany joinery in excellent condition, organized around a spacious U-shaped settee and a generous galley to port. The layout maximizes usable space throughout the hull.
Equipment includes a Northern Lights 6K generator, two air-conditioning units (one replaced in 2025), and Raymarine instruments for wind, depth, speed, and autopilot. A new cockpit bimini top, awnings, backdrop, and covers were added in 2021, along with fresh standing rigging the same year. The Flexiteek cockpit and bottom job are both from 2026.
