The 2003 Boston Whaler 170 Montauk is a 17-foot center console sportfisher built on a modified V-hull that delivers a softer ride and quick planing. The design prioritizes stability and fishability with a wide beam that maximizes interior space for people and gear, plus a shallow 9-inch draft. The center console arrangement puts controls, switch panels, drink holders, and an electric horn within easy reach, while the full walkaround design supports 360-degree fishing access. An anchor locker and bow storage, combined with a reversible pilot seat featuring a four-position adjustable backrest, round out the layout.
The boat is powered by a 2011 Yamaha 70 hp four-stroke outboard installed in 2012. It comes with an included trailer and carries the Boston Whaler fishing package. Navigation and communication equipment includes a Standard Horizon Eclipse GPS transceiver (25 watt model GX1400 GPS, recently installed) and a Garmin Echomap Plus 44CV chartplotter with transducer.
The hull has been waxed and the bottom refinished with fresh paint. The upholstery remains in very good condition, as does the navy blue canvas cockpit cover, which has seen minimal use. Recent maintenance includes a new cockpit bilge pump installed in 2025 and the GPS and radio upgrades noted above.
