This 16-foot Great Lakes skiff was built in 2003 by Great Lakes Boat Building Company, a Michigan builder known for custom wooden craft. The boat features a deep-V hull with mahogany and marine plywood planking, constructed throughout with epoxy glue and bronze fastenings. A single Mercury 25-horsepower gasoline engine powers the skiff, suited for freshwater operation on the Great Lakes where it has been used since new.
The wooden hull incorporates a sliver of epoxy along the keel for protection during trailering. Interior details include a brass helm wheel and full storage cover. The boat comes with a 1995 Karavan single-axle trailer and is equipped with a fish-finder. Throughout its construction, this skiff demonstrates traditional wooden boatbuilding techniques combined with modern marine epoxy methods.
