This 2003 Formula 40 Performance Cruiser pairs the offshore capability and build quality the series is known for with a documented record of mechanical investment. Twin Yanmar 6LY2A-STP diesel engines rated at 440 horsepower each deliver efficient cruising in the mid-20-knot range, with a top speed near 29 knots. The engines have just over 1,000 hours of service.
The current owners have maintained the boat's critical systems methodically. Both engine oil coolers were replaced in 2018; raw-water pumps have been renewed; the starboard turbocharger was replaced in 2023; and the starboard main heat exchanger was professionally removed and cleaned. The 5.0 kW Westerbeke generator received a new generator end in 2021. Air conditioning was installed new in May 2026. The bottom was refinished in 2023, and a factory Formula cover was purchased new that same year.
Topside features include a hydraulic swim platform for easy water access and boarding, a bow thruster for maneuvering, and a painted aluminum radar arch with bimini top. The cockpit provides U-shaped seating with a removable table, a wet bar with sink and ice maker, and a three-sided Taylor-made stainless windshield with an opening center section for safe bow access.
Below, the open layout includes a forward master with queen berth, a mid cabin convertible to a double, a full-beam salon with convertible dinette, and a galley with Corian-style counters, ceramic cooktop, microwave, and refrigerator-freezer. Blue LED accent lighting is installed throughout. The hull is painted in Bahama Blue.
