The 2003 Mainship Pilot 34 Sedan is a semi-displacement cruiser built around the classic "Downeast" aesthetic and designed for accessible, fuel-efficient coastal and Great Lakes voyaging. Its full keel and moderate deadrise hull provide stable, predictable handling across varying sea conditions. The sedan configuration features a hard-top helm deck that shelters the wheelhouse, making it well suited to extended cruising in northern waters. Twin Yanmar 4LHA-DTP2 diesels, each rated at 200 horsepower and logging under 1,400 hours, drive the boat with proven reliability.
The interior layout centers on a spacious V-berth forward with a solid privacy bulkhead, galley with three-burner Force 10 stove and oven, and a head with shower. The main salon offers a large U-shaped settee and dining table, with stainless opening ports and storage throughout. A galley renovation in 2024 added a new refrigerator, freezer drawer, stainless countertop and sink. The V-berth received a custom Seaswag mattress and fitted sheets, also in 2024.
Recent work includes a bottom job with sandblasted hull and new paint applied in 2024, service of both engines in June 2024, and replacement of propane lines and the solenoid valve. Navigation and safety equipment includes Simrad autopilot paired with a Maptech chartplotter, Raymarine radar, and a new Standard Horizon VHF with AIS. Electrical systems comprise 800 watts of solar panels across the pilothouse roof, dual house batteries, and a new commercial truck battery for engine start. A new cockpit shower, helm and passenger bench upholstery, and pilothouse settee cushions were added between 2024 and 2026. The boat carries a Highfield dinghy with outboard, new anchor and rode, Xantrex inverter, and full complement of cruising gear.
