Road Taken is a 78-foot fiberglass sailing yacht built in 2003 by Southern Wind Shipyard to a design by Nauta Design and Farr Yacht Design. The boat combines blue-water cruising capability with refined interior and exterior styling, powered by a single 308-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine.
The deck layout prioritizes comfort and functionality for long-range voyaging. A panoramic deck saloon wraps around with a 270-degree view, while a generous sunbathing area sits between the crew quarters and guest cockpit. Below, the five-cabin interior—including dedicated crew and captain accommodations—balances luxury with practical cruising layout, supported by four heads and modern galley systems.
Recent maintenance has been thorough and comprehensive. In autumn 2024, the boat underwent a full mast and rigging service including NDT inspection, replacement of all halyards and sheets, new North Sails mainsail and gennaker, full rudder bearing replacement, new water maker membranes, fresh antifouling, and upgrades to navigation and safety systems including new liferafts and autopilot displays. Spring 2024 work included genset rebuild, replacement of service batteries and freshwater pumps, new stuffing box, and fuel tank removal and cleaning. The engine received full service with new alternator and exhaust components.
