2004 Fountain 38 Lightning

The 2004 Fountain 38 Lightning is a high-performance center console built around Generation III Super Ventilated Positive Lift hull technology. The design integrates a pad keel, notched transom, and optimized step geometry to deliver speed and handling. Twin MerCruiser 496HO engines produce 850 horsepower total, enabling a top speed of 68 mph and cruise around 43 mph. The staggered engine configuration balances weight distribution for improved performance.

The cabin features leather-touch seating and carpeting throughout, with plush appointments matching the boat's high-end specification. A single head and fresh-water cooling system are fitted. Instrumentation includes a Garmin GPS chartplotter, Fusion stereo with subwoofers and tower speakers, and an Uniden VHF radio. Docking lights and cabin fans are standard, along with an iPad connection point for integrated control.

Mechanically, the 496HO package provides fresh-water cooled power with lower maintenance requirements than raw-water systems. Latham hydraulic steering, K-Planes trim tabs, and a mirrored engine hatch complete the setup. The helm features a color-coordinated dash, throttles, bezels, and wheel, with a lightning bolt engine hatch cover. This boat has a solid reputation from Factory II racing competition.
