This 2004 Hell's Bay Devilray is a rare compact skiff built on a no-liner hull design that prioritizes weight savings, simple systems, and efficient performance. Fewer than twenty Devilrays were ever produced, making this one of an exceptionally limited class. The hull features a notably wide beam for its fourteen-foot length, delivering impressive stability across shallow water. The cockpit floor is the hull itself, eliminating a separate liner and freeing up forward storage volume while keeping the boat light enough to run efficiently on modest power.
The boat underwent a complete refit in 2025 by Billfish Boatworks that modernized every system without altering the minimalist character that defines the design. A new 2025 Mercury 30hp FourStroke with electric start powers the boat through fewer than twenty hours of operation. The engine pairs with a three-blade stainless steel prop and manual tilt. A MotorGuide Xi5 eighty-pound-thrust trolling motor runs on a Dakota Lithium 24-volt 110-amp-hour battery system with onboard charger, delivering full thrust capability without the weight of traditional lead-acid batteries.
The layout includes six under-gunwale rod tubes, a glassed-in cooler shelf forward of the aft seat, grey SeaDek under-gunwale pads, and Lenco electric trim tabs. A removable carbon fiber bow casting platform and a port aft locker configured as a crustacean well are included. Factory reinforced lamination allows the boat to serve as a tender behind larger vessels. The entire hull was refinished with new non-skid, the electrical system was rewired, a new aluminum fuel tank installed, and the poling platform rebuilt with textured black powder coating and SeaDek decking. The boat comes with a 2025 Ram-Lin aluminum trailer.
