The 2004 Hinckley Talaria 29R is a composite-hulled runabout built around a single Yanmar 440-horsepower diesel engine with jet drive. The boat reaches 34 knots at top speed and cruises comfortably at 28 knots. It features the Hinckley JetStick Generation 3 joystick control system integrated with a bow thruster, trim tabs, and electronic shift transmission for straightforward handling in both lakes and coastal waters.
The layout centers on a forward cuddy cabin with a V-berth for two and a head, accessed from the helm area. The main cockpit offers a helm station and passenger seat positioned forward, with an L-shaped lounge area amidships and an aft-facing settee on the engine box. A full-width forward-facing settee occupies the transom, accommodating ten people total. The engine box houses a sink and insulated cooler, while a removable bimini with isinglass panels protects the cockpit from weather.
A comprehensive refit completed in 2017 installed a new Yanmar engine, Garmin 12-inch chartplotter with autopilot, Icom VHF, Fusion Bluetooth stereo, new teak throughout stripped and revarnished, and rebuilt electrical systems. Recent owner improvements include new hull paint, new electrical panel, new faux teak cockpit decking, and a new cockpit cover. The boat runs on 420 amp-hours of battery capacity with dual alternators and multistate charging.
The composite construction uses Kevlar E-glass skin over balsa and Corecell core with carbon fiber inner skin. Stainless steel hardware throughout includes half-round rub rail, custom bow chocks, and seacock fittings. The swim platform features teak treads with a stainless steel folding ladder, while a self-draining bow locker serves the electric windlass and ground tackle system.
