The 2004 Sabre 42 Express is a fiberglass downeast cruiser built for serious coastal work and extended voyaging. Twin Yanmar diesels produce 1,000 horsepower, delivering reliable power and efficiency across a range of sea conditions. The boat measures 42 feet in length with a 14.25-foot beam, providing stable handling and good interior volume.
Recent and ongoing maintenance has modernized the boat's systems substantially. New house batteries installed in 2025 support an upgraded electrical setup that includes a Victron charger for generator batteries, a Victron Orion DC charger for the start bank, and 500 watts of solar capacity with Victron MPPT controller. The twin Yanmar engines received a full aftercooler service in 2025, and new dripless shafts were fitted in 2024. A new generator battery was installed in 2024, and the hull was fully painted in flag blue in 2018.
Onboard amenities include a Garmin 8612 XSV 12-inch plotter with sounder and mapping sonar for navigation. A water heater dates to 2022, and the toilet was replaced in 2023. Helm and main cabin cushions were reupholstered in 2021, as were the Stidd chairs. Additional conveniences include a TorqEEDO 1003CS auxiliary electric motor with 915Wh battery, Boat Command remote monitoring with two cameras and motion detection, and replaced anchor chain from 2019.
