2005 Aluminum Cruiser Ted Brewer

This 60-foot aluminum cruising yacht was designed by naval architect Ted Brewer as the Arden class. A three-masted tern schooner, she features a 110-horsepower Yammer diesel engine, in-boom furling on the fore and main sails, and roller-furling jib and staysail. Additional canvas includes a gennaker, fisherman, mizzen staysail, storm sail, and light-air jib. Under power she reaches 9 knots at full throttle and cruises at 6–7 knots. Under sail in moderate wind she makes 8–10 knots, with a 4-knot capability in light air when properly rigged.

The deck is equipped with a 110-pound Bruce anchor on 300 feet of oversized chain, a Fortress FX-125 secondary anchor, and a third Fortress FX-55 stern anchor. Power windlass with foot and remote switches manage the primary ground tackle. Eight Anderson winches control all sheets independently. A 10-foot 4-inch Highfield dinghy with outboard engine (new dinghy January 2023) hangs from davits. Deck features include swim and dinghy-access ladders, a BBQ with shower, hard dodger with tempered glass, and folding cockpit table. The enclosed cockpit seats eight and features a large nav table and full chart plotter and AIS setup.

Below deck, the layout includes four cabins and two heads. The forward cabin provides three single berths plus storage; the main saloon with seating for eight connects to a galley with four-burner Force 10 stove, double sink, refrigeration, and substantial locker space. A starboard cabin with double bed adjoins the forward head, while the owner's cabin aft features a double berth, dressing area with water maker, separate head, three hanging closets, and ten drawers. Ventilation throughout relies on port lights, deck hatches, and dorades. The nav desk sits strategically aft of the galley with direct cockpit communication.

Interior appointments include mahogany walls and exotic woods throughout. The boat is built for reliability and simplicity, with all critical systems—anchor handling, sail control, and steering—operated from the cockpit. A 10-foot Highfield dinghy with motor is included.
