The 2005 Catalina 28 MkII is a proven cruiser built for Great Lakes sailing. Its wing keel draws approximately 3'9", enabling access to shallow anchorages while maintaining stability. The boat measures 28 feet overall with a 10-foot beam, and the fiberglass hull is in good condition throughout.
The interior is notably spacious for the size, with six-foot-two headroom maximum. Two private cabins provide sleeping quarters: a forward vee berth and an aft double berth, both fitted with new mattresses in 2023. The galley includes a two-burner propane stove with oven, and there is one head with a manual Jabsco toilet. New interior carpet was installed, and storage is distributed throughout the cabin.
Power comes from a Westerbeke Universal three-cylinder 25-horsepower diesel inboard with approximately 900 hours of operation. The engine features a dripless shaft seal and three-blade prop. A bay sails in-mast furling mainsail (new 2021) and north sails genoa (new 2019) simplify sailing operations, with lines led aft to the cockpit for single-handed handling. Older main, genoa, and drifter sails are also aboard.
Navigation and electronics include a Raymarine Axiom 7 chartplotter (2022), Raymarine autopilot, and new VHF radio with antenna (2025). A solar panel with controller, new house battery (2024), and new engine start battery (2022) support the boat's systems. Hot and cold pressure water is available from both engine and electric heating. The cockpit features an Edson pedestal steering, walk-through transom, and comprehensive deck equipment including dodger, bimini, cushions, and anchor roller. A winter cradle is included.
