This 2005 Catana 431 is a composite-hulled cruising catamaran measuring 43 feet by nearly 24 feet in beam. Twin Volvo-Penta diesel engines of 40 hp each drive the boat through saildrives with fixed two-bladed props. The engines were serviced in October 2023 along with cooling circuits and saildrive seals. Fuel capacity is 720 litres across two tanks.
The owner's version layout spans three double cabins across both hulls. The starboard owner's cabin features a king bed (180 x 190 cm) with full storage, and a large en-suite shower with electric toilet. The port hull holds an aft cabin with a 180 x 190 cm bed, shower, toilet and lockers, plus a forward cabin with a 160 x 195 cm bed, storage, and pre-plumbing for a washing machine. The spacious saloon seats eight at its dining table. The galley includes an ENO cooktop and oven, a 110-litre front-opening freezer (replaced March 2024), a 100-litre front-opening fridge, and a microwave installed in June 2023.
The sailing inventory is comprehensive: a Dacron mainsail and genoa (genoa furler upgraded October 2022), a Northsails Dacron gennaker with furler, and full standing rigging with mast-head equipment and antennas. An electric Harken 50 central winch on the aft beam operates from both helm stations, supported by Lewmar winches of various sizes. Sails were refreshed in April 2023 with a new lazy bag.
Electronics centre on Raymarine, including an Axiom+ 12-inch plotter (2023), Quantum 2 Doppler radar (2023), AIS transponder, dual autopilots with bridge controls, and multiple displays. Navigation is backed by a Garmin VHF with DSC, two portable radios, a satellite phone, and a Starlink antenna. Power comes from eight 125-watt solar panels, an 1000-watt wind generator (both 2021), six 160 Ah AGM batteries, and a Victron 2000-watt charger-converter. Fresh water tanks hold 800 litres, blackwater capacity is 136 litres, and a 60-litre desalinator was serviced in 2024 with a new motor and membrane. Two 40-litre hot-water tanks serve pressurised hot and cold systems.
Deck equipment includes stainless steering wheels, a rigid bimini, electric windlass with remote and chain counter, boarding ladder, transom shower, trampoline, teak cockpit and aft platform, fenders and lines.
