The 2005 Legacy Yachts 34 Express is a fiberglass cruiser built during the manufacturer's custom-build period, known for solid construction and thoughtful design. Powered by a single 440 hp Yanmar diesel with bow thruster, the boat cruises at 18 knots and is straightforward to operate. A Northern Lights generator provides ship's power, while marine heat and air conditioning serve both the salon and cockpit. An inverter allows battery-powered operation of selected outlets and the refrigerator.
The helm offers excellent sightlines and commands a spacious bridgedeck and cockpit layout. The engine compartment sits directly beneath, but careful insulation and baffle design keep noise manageable. A large hydraulic-assisted hatch provides straightforward access for maintenance.
Recent improvements include a new bottom, replacement hatch covers, refinished cockpit upholstery, new eisenglass and canvas, and fresh batteries. Navigation and electronics were upgraded with a Garmin package comprising a 19-inch multifunction display, closed-array radar, autopilot, a second multifunction display positioned above the autopilot, and a dedicated transducer. An Awlgrip paint job applied approximately six years ago maintains the hull finish, and bright work has been recently restored.
