The Morris M36 is a 36-foot composite sailing yacht built to blend classical proportions with modern design and construction. Hand-laid with Hydrex Vinylester resin and Core-Cell core throughout, the hull features longitudinal stringers and web frames, while the high aspect carbon fiber rudder and lead fin keel with bulb are engineered for both comfortable cruising and competitive performance. A single 18-horsepower Yanmar diesel provides auxiliary power. The boat draws 6 feet 6 inches and carries new North 3Di sails including a full-batten main, self-tacking jib, and asymmetrical gennaker, all integrated with a new Leisurefurl furling boom and electric self-tailing winches at the helm for singlehanded operation.
The cockpit is the primary living space, with port and starboard settees each over six feet long—long enough to recline on—and two additional electric winches outboard for spinnaker trimming. All sail controls run aft under deck to the helm, where an Edson pedestal combines steering with engine controls and integrated instruments. Below, the cabin follows a simple Herreshoff-style layout with white bulkheads and mahogany trim. The large v-berth forward opens to a deck hatch for light and air. Two six-foot settees flank a modest but complete galley to starboard with Corian counter, stainless steel sink, and DC refrigeration. An enclosed head to port features a Vacuflush electric toilet, Corian counter, and teak trim.
Recent major work totaling over $160,000 includes new sails and rigging, a complete suite of B&G and Simrad navigation electronics with 10-inch and 9-inch displays, new Selden electric winches throughout, a new Lithium battery system with solar panels, and full engine service with new injectors and fuel pump. The rudder was serviced with lower bearing replaced. Exterior varnish was completed in June 2025, and the bottom is coated in Baltoplate VC Offshore burnished paint. A new Espar heater was installed in 2025.
The 36-footer carries comprehensive equipment: stainless steel bow rail lowered in 2025 for jib performance, teak decking on cockpit sole and toe rail, four electric cabin lights plus reading lights, two dorade boxes with cowl vents, a solar-powered cabin vent, and safety gear including an emergency tiller, two manual bilge pumps, and fire extinguishers. The helm features a Ritchie 5-inch compass, Raymarine ST6001 autopilot, and Icom VHF. Fresh water capacity is 20 gallons; fuel capacity 12 gallons; holding tank 20 gallons. A 22-pound Bruce anchor with 100 feet of nylon rode and six feet of chain completes the ground tackle.
