2005 Oyster 56

This 2005 Oyster 56 is a proven offshore cruising platform, hull number 43 of the highly regarded series. Designed by Rob Humphreys and built by Oyster Marine to Lloyd's specifications, she combines the builder's renowned construction quality with the design's reputation for exceptional seaworthiness. With a 114 hp Perkins diesel engine, she cruises at 8 knots and carries a comprehensive sailing wardrobe including a full-batten North Sails 3Di Endurance 760 mainsail with three reef points, furling staysail, and an A2 asymmetric spinnaker on a Karver top-down furling system.

Below deck, the layout comprises four cabins and two heads, offering practical accommodation for offshore work and extended cruising. The aft owner's stateroom provides private space, the forward cabin holds a generous guest berth, and two additional cabins feature upper and lower bunks suited to passagemaking or crew. Interior comforts include a dishwasher, washing machine, water maker, VacuFlush toilets, and LED lighting throughout.

Electronics and systems reflect serious cruising preparation. A full B&G suite includes dual Zeus 12-inch multifunction displays, upgraded Hydra autopilot with hydraulic linear drive, Simrad 3G radar, Weatherdock AIS, Icom SSB radio, Iridium satellite communications, and Navtex. Power comes from a Perkins main engine, supported by a replacement Westerbeke 12.5 kW generator with approximately 606 hours, backed by a 24V DC system with 110V AC outlets and Mastervolt inverter-chargers. Reverse-cycle air conditioning, including a new Dometic unit installed in 2025, provides climate control throughout.

The boat includes a Rocna 88-pound primary anchor with 80 metres of G43 chain and a 125-pound Mantus secondary, a 2017 AB 12VS tender with 25 hp Yamaha Enduro outboard, and recommended offshore spares and safety equipment.
