2005 Protector Targa 28

This 28-foot Protector Targa is a rigid inflatable built in New Zealand with a fiberglass hull constructed to military specifications. Powered by twin Yamaha F200 four-stroke outboards installed new in 2022 with approximately 530 hours of use, the boat cruises at 30 mph and reaches a top speed of 48 mph. The hull design prioritizes fuel efficiency and seaworthiness, with a 3/4-inch hand-laid fiberglass construction featuring a deep V hull with hard chine and lifting strakes that exceed New Zealand Coast Guard requirements in impact testing.

The boat accommodates two berths with removable bunks and includes an enclosed cabin with a private electric marine head and holding tank. The layout features a hardtop with full-height windshield, drop-down canvas enclosure, and both a captain's cabin and forward pilot house area. Seating includes shock-absorbing helm and mate chairs, with additional aft quarter seats. Teak wood decking runs throughout, and integrated stainless steel handrails provide safety features typical of the Protector design.

Equipment includes a Simrad Go12XSE 12-inch display with 3-in-1 transducer, dual-band Simrad radar, Bluetooth stereo system with cabin and pilot house controllers, and a ProSport HD12 battery charger connected to three marine batteries. The boat has 130-gallon fuel capacity accessible from both sides, self-bailing scupper holes and boxes, electric and manual bilge pumps, Lenco trim tabs, and shore power capability. Navigation and anchor lighting, cockpit and cabin LED lighting, and windshield wipers are fitted throughout.

The engines underwent routine maintenance including oil changes at 100 hours and impeller service at 300 hours, with salt-away treatment performed after each use. An optional galvanized twin-axle trailer rated for 12,000 pounds combined capacity is available separately.
